CentOS BlueQuartz Help - Upgrading PHP, MySQL, OS and PKG for CentOS BlueQuartz 5102R
This upgrading process has been trialed and tested on Cobalt RaQ 3 and 4 using the StrongBolt installation process from OSoffice. Setup was done and tested using freshly installed units only!
It should however also work on any installation using CentOS4.x and BlueQuartz ( 5102R ).
The script is provided by GalacNet at no warranty and to be used at your own risk.
How to Start :
Enter SSH as root after your have completed setting up your unit.
Excute the following commands in SSH.
mkdir /home/workbin
cd /home/workbin
wget http://support.galacnet.com/downloads/bluequartz-centos/upgrade.sh
chmod 755 upgrade.sh
./upgrade.sh
Note : Once excuted, it took me around 90 to 100 minutes to finish on a Cobalt RaQ3 ( 500mhz, 512mb ram ) using a 1.5mps ADSL line to complete installation.
Features :
The script is divided into 4 phases and 1 initial setup phase.
Initial Phase
Script will recieve necessary install instructions from our server.
You will need to ensure that your Network settings are correct.
( DNS, IP and Gateway )
Phase I : OS upgrading
Script will attempt to update your system to the most recent available state.
It will preform the check 3 times to ensure that you have your system up-to-date before the upgrade starts.
Usually the 1st attempt fails, 2nd install the needed upgrades and 3rd will install the kernel updates.
This should take around 30 to 60 minutes depending on your connection and hardware.
Phase II : MySQL upgrading and Installation
Strongbolt does not come with MySQL installed.
This setup will install MySQL into your system.
No password has been set for this instance and you can log into MySQL with 'root' and a black password field.
Phase III : PHP Upgrading and BlueQuartz Repair
CentOS comes packaged with php4.3.9 which by the time you read this email would be outdated by at least 5 to 8 releases.
The script will attempt to install a new version of PHP.
There are a few other vendors that can provide you with a simplier, more reliable and faster installation on a commercial scale.
This section is the longest as it needs to re-config CentOS and BlueQuartz to properly use the new PHP version which can take from 60 to 120 minutes to complete!

The script will also repair your BlueQuartz GUI to work with this new version of PHP.
It is important that this is done, if not your BlueQuartz GUI will not be operational!
Phase IV : PKG installation
This phase will install some useful packages to your Server
The following will be installed :

BQ03-5102R-Midnight-Commander-2.6.0.pkg
BQ04-Pine-4.63-1.pkg

BQ07-5102R-AuthExternal-2.1-INSTALL-BEFORE-AWSTATS.pkg
BQ08-Awstats-6.5-1.pkg
BQ09-5102R-Dincom-System_GUI-1.0_1.pkg
BQ10-phpMyAdmin-2.7.0-pl2.pkg
BQ11-5102R-Base-Secure-Passwords-SOL1.pkg
BQ12-5102R-HostFix-1.0.pkg
Once completed, the script will end with some credits and clean up the installation.
You are now ready to run on your new system :)
